Astral projection is an ability which each and every person in the world is born with. Astral projecting is real; the difference between people who are able to astral project any time that they want and those who have difficulty with the technique is practice.

Believed to be an ancient practice, followers say this practice should be treated with respect. Astral projection is a lot like meditating or yoga and comes in many different forms.

Lucid dreaming is the first level of astral projection. This form of dreaming is when you consciously dream and one type is astral projection. Many say this is a simple form of projection and that while you are dreaming, you begin by telling yourself ‘I am dreaming’

Once you have done this, you will begin to be able to take control of your dream. However, until this technique is mastered (which can take a while), this can be too unreliable of a way to astral project.

Astral projection is something you have done before, although you may not realize that you have done so.

When you awake from a dream remembering every single detail, this was not a dream; you were astral projecting.

The key to success in astral projection is to believe you can do it. Any doubts or fears you have will only hold you back and make it harder for you to astral project.

Meditating and practicing relaxation techniques will also help you astral project. Meditating is actually an ideal way to prepare your mind and body for astral projection. All you have to do is find a meditative practice that you can follow easily and that you will be able to stick with.

One good way to start your meditation (and astral projecting) is to sit in a comfortable chair in a quiet room where you will not be interrupted or distracted.

Do not focus on any stresses or troubles that are burdening you. The best way to do this is to focus on your breathing, your breathing should be deep and slow. With each breath you should see all the troubles in your head leaving you through your mouth. This will help you reach that deeply relaxed state that is needed to astral project.

You now need to go deeper into a state of altered consciousness. Just think about your breathing as you are now without worry or stress. Your mind is clear, you are taking deep breathes.

The breaths you take should come from deep down inside.

As your breathing slows down, focus more and more on relaxing your body.

Work your way up from toes to head, relaxing each part of your body as you go. There are two ways that you can do this. You can visualize each part of your body relaxing as you go, telling yourself they are relaxing as you do so. You can also tense, then release each part of your body, feeling this tension leaving your body as you exhale.

At this point, you will start to feel heavy almost as if energy is leaving your body. As you get to this point, and you are completely relaxed, you will know that it is time to move on to the next step of astral projection.

Once you are fully relaxed, you may be ready to fall asleep don’t doze off, you’re almost there! Repeat a phrase to yourself to stay focused. It doesn’t matter what this mantra is. Even ‘around the corner’ can work just choose a phrase which you can focus on and repeat it.

When the human mind is unoccupied, it will tend to wander; this will ruin the concentration you need to astral project. Just keep repeating your phrase to yourself and taking slow, deep breaths.

There are a few different ways that you can reach the altered state needed to astral project. You can attain this state by continuing to repeat your mantra. Many find the ‘body of light’ technique to be very effective as well. In this technique, you imagine yourself transforming into a body made of light.

You can watch for these three signs to know that you are beginning to astral project. One is feeling a sensation of motion, even though your body will be at rest. Another is ‘seeing’ colors and lights with your eyes closed.

Last, you’ll hear voices. These voices will either be urging you to continue or to stop this is a sure fire sign that you are on your way to astral projecting.
