Leaving Your Physical Body - How To Astral Project
There are many people who astral project without being aware that they doing so and this is because astral projection is a natural ability which all people have. What we need to learn is how to do it while we’re conscious so that we have control over it.
While this article is an attempt to help people learn about astral projection using different techniques, you should keep in mind that astral projection is a personal experience so ideally, you need to apply a technique that works best for yourself. Furthermore, we’re taking the liberty of assuming that you are already familiar with the meaning of astral projection.
First I offer you a five step method that works for many people learning to astral project.
*Your first priority is to achieve a state of deep relaxation by relaxing your body thoroughly. In order to achieve this state of relaxation you need to be lying down. Your goal here is, starting at the lowest point which is your toes, to tense each muscle and then relax it again. Once you’ve worked through your toes, you do the same with you feet, and so you move upwards until you eventually finish with the muscles in your face. Don’t be alarmed if you sense a feeling that your body is heavy as this is perfectly normal.
*Next, focus your attention on your breathing; just observe your breathing as a cat watches a mouse, without 'judging' your breathing. Inhale deeply and slowly and observe the process of the air going into your lungs, your diaphragm. Exhale deeply and slowly, again just observing. You should feel yourself becoming extremely relaxed, but do not allow yourself to drift off into sleep. If you feel that happening, shift your attention to your forehead (your 'second sight' seat). Do this several times.
*After several of these breathes, begin thinking of how your body feels, which should be like a heavy slab of clay and difficult to move. Once you sense that you feel this way, shift your attention into your astral body, which is weightless and free, nothing like your physical body. Close your eyes and envision your astral Self, a feather in the wind, or a luminous bird.
*It’s now in this fourth stage that many people tend to see the room they’re in filled with a soft purple light. Likewise, they tens to see the entire room even though their physical body is lying on the bed with eyes closed. It’s hardly surprising then that so many people report that this is where the thrill of astral projection starts.
*This is the stage that you’ve been aiming for so you need to go through with it and whatever you do, don’t fall asleep. As you focus on the ceiling light, imagine trying to pull it down onto the bed. As you mentally pull the light towards you, you’ll more than likely experience a floating feeling. Staying conscious, continue pulling the light until you become aware of yourself actually floating and then go ahead, look down and in most cases, you’ll be able to see yourself lying on the bed.
This means you're now able to astral project and are prepared to move on to astral travel. But, if that one doesn't work for you, try the next technique, which is also to be used when you're going to bed for the night.
This second method is commonly known as the gazing technique, which just as with the first method, is also best done when going to bed. The main difference is, with the gazing method, all you require is an object on which you can focus such as a picture hanging on the wall, the moon outside if it’s within view, or in fact anything you choose.
Once you’re comfortable on your bed, begin focusing on the object of your choice. You need to continue focusing, without becoming distracted and looking away, until your eyes start feeling heavy. In reality, no matter how hard you try, your eyes will eventually close and when this happens, you need to continue focusing on the object. Before long you’ll experience a powerful urge to either stand up or to sit up. If this is your first successful projection, standing up and turning around can be a frightening experience for some, given that you’ll see your own body lying on the bed.
If these two techniques don’t work the first time you try them, then try again. If after the third time you fail to astral project, perhaps you need to try one of the other techniques. What’s important is that you don’t give up. Becoming despondent increases anxiety and this will only hamper your efforts rather than increase your chances.
Astral projection is often obstructed or even prevented because your subconscious mind won’t allow. Until your subconscious acknowledges the fact that it’s a natural process for your astral body to leave your physical body, astral projection may not be possible. For beginners who are experiencing this mental block, affirmations can be highly effective at enabling your subconscious to accept the concept of astral projection.
For those who are impatient and are concerned they may grow frustrated too easily with these practices, there are some shortcuts to use to get you astral projecting on one of your very first attempts.
Those beginners who experience a block in their path to astral projecting, hypnosis can in most cases prove to be the only tool you’ll ever need. It gets you into an ideal state of relaxation in an incredibly short space of time and also, a quality session will prepare you mentally for your first astral projection experience.
In recent times it has come to light that a form of sound technology known as 'binaural beats' is also highly effective at inducing a state of relaxation which is suitable for astral projection.
No, astral project is certainly not as difficult as many may proclaim it to be. After all, it’s a natural ability which we’re all born with. The techniques which have been discussed are merely aides to help you achieve your experience.
