How To Astral Project Successfully
Astral projection is not really the mysterious or mystic thing it's usually made out to be--it's a natural human capability. Numerous people have astral projection or astral travel experiences but don't realize it because they aren't in control of where they go or what they do.
While we will try to help people learn how to astral project using various methods, one should remember, astral projection is a personal experience so you really need to choose a method that works best for yourself. Also, this article is based on the assumption that you are already familiar with what astral projection is.
The primary method is a straightforward process consisting of five basic steps which can be done while lying down on your bed.
*As you are lying down to go to bed, instead of just letting yourself try to drift off to sleep, use muscle tensing and releasing to enter a deep but conscious state of relaxation. Starting with your feet and toes, tense and then untense every muscle one at a time in your body, working all the way up through your facial muscles. If you feel this is uncomfortable or you feel heavy, that's normal--you aren't used to deep relaxation.
*Next, focus your attention on your breathing; just observe your breathing as a cat watches a mouse, without 'judging' your breathing. Inhale deeply and slowly and observe the process of the air going into your lungs, your diaphragm. Exhale deeply and slowly, again just observing. You should feel yourself becoming extremely relaxed, but do not allow yourself to drift off into sleep. If you feel that happening, shift your attention to your forehead (your 'second sight' seat). Do this several times.
*Next, shift your attention to how your body is feeling--it should seem to you like some heavy slab of wet clay. If you feel this way, close your eyes and visualize your astral self, the weightless self, floating like a butterfly in a breeze, a bird just drifting on a thermal.
*In this fourth stage that most people will be capable of seeing the room they’re in even though their physical eyes are shut and most also testify that there appears to be a purple glow filling the room. For a beginner, experiencing this for the first time can be nothing short of exhilarating and is in itself, good enough motivation to continue.
*As a beginner, it’s this fifth phase that’s been your number one goal. You need to continue now because after all, you have made it this far. Whatever you do, don’t allow yourself to drift off to sleep. Now, focus all your attention on the ceiling light fitting and mentally try to pull it towards yourself the bed. As you do this, you’ll start to experience a feeling as though you are floating. Remain conscious and continue pulling the light closer until you actually feel yourself starting to float. Now, it is time for you to experience the rewards of your efforts so turn around and look down. You’ll be able to see your physical body lying peacefully on the bed below.
As I mentioned earlier in this article, different techniques work for different people. If this first method has failed you, don’t give up. Simply move on and try the next method mentioned below. Likewise, if this method has worked then you’re on your way to start experimenting astral travelling.
The second technique is known as the gazing method and as with the technique it’s also best suited for when you go to your bed. All you need with this one is an object to focus on such as a picture hanging up, a mark on the wall or even the moon if it’s visible through the window.
Lying on your bed, simply begin focusing all your attention on the object you’ve chosen for the occasion. After a while your eyes will begin getting heavy and no matter how hard you try, they are going to close but what’s important is that you continue staring at the object even though your eyes are closed. Following soon after will be a strong urge to sit up or to stand up and it’s when you do this that you will see your physical body left behind on the bed. This is what you’ve been aiming for so try not to be alarmed.
If these two techniques don’t work the first time you try them, then try again. If after the third time you fail to astral project, perhaps you need to try one of the other techniques. What’s important is that you don’t give up. Becoming despondent increases anxiety and this will only hamper your efforts rather than increase your chances.
You see, no matter what methodologies you attempt with astral projection or any new spiritual discipline, it's your own subconscious mind which is the main obstacle. Your subconscious mind must feel like it's perfectly alright for the astral body to temporarily depart from the physical body. To this end you can do some affirmations for several minutes every day to re-program the subconscious mind. Remember that all affirmations must be stated in the positive and they cannot be lies. (I.E. do not talk as if you have already astral projected; talk as if you have made the decision to astral project and you know it's perfectly natural to do so).
The ability to astral project successfully on the first attempt is not possible for everyone as their subconscious minds have to be suitably conditioned. Luckily some very powerful tools exist and are readily available to help you in a very short space of time.
For those who experience difficulty astral projecting, hypnosis may well prove to be an invaluable tool. Not only does it get you into an ideal state of relaxation, but a quality session will also prepare you for your first astral projection experience.
Recent advancements in sound technology have brought to light, a concept known as 'binaural beats'which are also proving to be very useful in helping people achieve a state of deep relaxation which is essential for successful astral projection.
Remember, astral projection is not mystical or just something for a select few. It's one of your innate abilities--all you need to do is use the right techniques to master it!
