How To Astral Project - A Novices Guide
The process of astral projection is a natural ability with which everyone is born. In fact, many people actually do it without even being aware of it. Our aim however should be to astral project while we’re physically conscious, thus allowing ourselves to control what your astral body is doing.
While this article is an attempt to help people learn about astral projection using different techniques, you should keep in mind that astral projection is a personal experience so ideally, you need to apply a technique that works best for yourself. Furthermore, we’re taking the liberty of assuming that you are already familiar with the meaning of astral projection.
The primary method is a straightforward process consisting of five basic steps which can be done while lying down on your bed.
*As you are lying down to go to bed, instead of just letting yourself try to drift off to sleep, use muscle tensing and releasing to enter a deep but conscious state of relaxation. Starting with your feet and toes, tense and then untense every muscle one at a time in your body, working all the way up through your facial muscles. If you feel this is uncomfortable or you feel heavy, that's normal--you aren't used to deep relaxation.
*Now that you’ve managed to achieve a state of deep relaxation, you need to bring your breathing under control and the best way to do this, is by following a technique often taught in meditation. Take deep breath and allow yourself to actually feel the movement of air as it makes its way into your lungs. Now exhale slowly, once again paying attention to the feeling of the air leaving your body. Many people find this difficult as they become so relaxed, they simply fall asleep which of course, is something you need to avoid. Mentally trying to focus on the centre of your forehead will however help you remain conscious.
*This is the stage where you’ll need to be aware of two things in particular, the first being the way your physical body feels and the second being your astral body. Your physical body should feel heavy, comparative to a mass of wet sand which is heavy and difficult to move. Now focus on your astral body, imagining it’s similar to feathers or soapy bubbles drifting on a delicate breeze. Concentrate on the sheer weightlessness of your astral body and its ability to float away. Unlike your physical body which is heavy, your astral body is completely weightless.
*For many this is the exciting stage as they claim to see the entire room they’re in from a different perspective in spite of the fact that their eyes are shut. In most cases, there tends to be a form of purple light filling the room and it’s at this point that you should focus on the light in the centre of the ceiling.
*Envision yourself pulling the drawing imagine that you are pulling the ceiling light into you. As you're doing this you might well get the sensation that you're floating. If you feel this, you can likely look \"down\" at your own physical body lying still on the bed.
If you’ve experienced this unique phenomenon, well done. You’ve successfully managed to astral project and are now in a position to start exploring with your astral travels. As I’ve mentioned before, different techniques work for different people so if this technique hasn’t worked for you, go ahead and attempt using this next technique.
You can do this one, known as the Gazing Method, when you're hitting the hay for night as well. You'll need an object to focus on: the moon through your window or skylight, a lava lamp, even just a nightlight; whatever can hold your attention.
Once you’re comfortable on your bed, begin focusing on the object of your choice. You need to continue focusing, without becoming distracted and looking away, until your eyes start feeling heavy. In reality, no matter how hard you try, your eyes will eventually close and when this happens, you need to continue focusing on the object. Before long you’ll experience a powerful urge to either stand up or to sit up. If this is your first successful projection, standing up and turning around can be a frightening experience for some, given that you’ll see your own body lying on the bed.
You may need to practice these methods several times over before you start getting results, so the important thing is to never give up. If you let yourself grow frustrated or anxious this will only interfere with your ability astral project.
The truth is that your biggest obstacle to success with astral projection is your very own subconscious, which at first will likely try to guard you against the 'danger' of your astral body splitting off from your physical body. You can overcome this block with daily affirmations. Just keep them positive and present tense, and acknowledge that you possess the natural ability of astral projection.
For those who are impatient and are concerned they may grow frustrated too easily with these practices, there are some shortcuts to use to get you astral projecting on one of your very first attempts.
Hypnosis is perhaps the most powerful tool available as it gets you into an ideal state relaxation. Additionally, a really good session will also enable you to grasp and accept the principles of astral projection when you experience it.
In recent times it has come to light that a form of sound technology known as 'binaural beats' is also highly effective at inducing a state of relaxation which is suitable for astral projection.
