Exploring The Universe - How To Astral Project
Astral projection is in fact a natural ability which everyone possesses, with many people actually doing it without being aware of it. However, the aim should be to do it while you’re conscious thereby being able to control what your astral body is doing.
While this article is an attempt to help people learn about astral projection using different techniques, you should keep in mind that astral projection is a personal experience so ideally, you need to apply a technique that works best for yourself. Furthermore, we’re taking the liberty of assuming that you are already familiar with the meaning of astral projection.
The primary method is a straightforward process consisting of five basic steps which can be done while lying down on your bed.
*While lying there, completely relax your body so that you enter a deep state of relaxation. Lie on your back and start tensing then relaxing every muscle in your toes and feet. Work your way upward through your body from your toes to your head. You might feel discomfort or heaviness the first times you try this; but this is normal because you just aren't used to feeling so relaxed.
*Perhaps the most difficult part of step two is actually not falling asleep as you becomes more and more relaxed. In order to deepen and slow down your breathing, we follow a technique which is also used for meditation. This involves taking a slow deep breath and at the same time, feeling the air actually move its way down into your lungs. As you then exhale, you once again pay attention to the feeling of moving air leaving your body, ensuring also that you exhale all the air you have. To avoid falling asleep, try focusing mentally on an imaginary dot on the centre of your forehead.
*The third phase is to focus on the concept weightlessness regarding your astral body as well as the real weight of your physical body. By this stage your physical body will be feeling heavy so try to picture it as being a huge lump of clay, heavy and difficult to move. Additionally, you need to focus on how light your astral body feels by comparison. Imagine it to be a large bubble starting to float away up into the air, or even some feathers drifting away on a gentle breeze. Still with your eyes closed, visualize your astral body starting to separate from your physical body and drift away, taking in the feeling of complete weightlessness. Acknowledge to yourself, that your physical body is extremely heavy and almost impossible to move; your astral body on the other hand, has absolutely no weight at all, free to drift on the wind.
*At this stage is when you may be able to \"see in infrared\", able to make out everything in the dark room in exquisite detail. The room may seem bathed in violet light. If you reach this stage, look up and focus your attention on a light upon or covering the ceiling.
*Concentrating on the ceiling light you should mentally start trying to pull it towards you and before long, in all likelihood, you’ll more than likely start feeling as if you’re floating. Whatever you do, do not allow yourself to fall asleep at this point because by now you should be fully aware that you’re floating and in many cases, you may also be able to see your physical body lying on the bed below.
This means you're now able to astral project and are prepared to move on to astral travel. But, if that one doesn't work for you, try the next technique, which is also to be used when you're going to bed for the night.
Known as the gazing technique, this second method is also best done when going to bed. However, with the gazing method, all you require is something on which you can focus such as a picture or even the moon outside if it’s within view.
Once you’re lying on your bed, concentrate on the object you’ve chosen. Continue focusing until your eyes become heavier and heavier, until if feels as though you cannot keep them open. No matter how hard you try, they are going to close and when they do, be sure to keep staring at the object, even through your closed eyes. After doing this for some time, you’ll experience the desire to get up off the bed or at least, to sit up. Be warned, if it’s your first projection, standing up and turning around can be an alarming experience as you see your own body lying on the bed.
If you’re really serious about learning to astral project, you need to understand that these methods aren’t always successful on your first attempt. In all likelihood you may not even be successful with your second or third attempt either but if after that they still don’t work, don’t give up because there are still other techniques so simply try again using a new method.
Most importantly, it’s essential to understand that one’s subconscious mind is the biggest obstacle in your path to successful astral projection, no matter what tools or techniques you decide to use. Before one can astral project, you need to convince your subconscious mind that it’s acceptable for your astral body to leave your physical body and one effective means of doing this is through affirmations. Once your subconscious has come to terms with the concept, astral projection becomes easy.
For some, conditioning one’s mind to an extent where astral projection becomes easy can take considerable time but the good news is, there are some powerful short cuts which can make it possible even after one attempt.
Hypnosis is perhaps the most powerful tool available as it gets you into an ideal state relaxation. Additionally, a really good session will also enable you to grasp and accept the principles of astral projection when you experience it.
Recent developments in sound technology known as 'binaural beats' are also proving to be very effective in getting people into a state of relaxation suitable for successful astral projection.
