Each and every human being is born with the ability to astral project. The only difference between those who can astral project at will and those who cannot is practice.

Astral projection is a practice with a long history, just like meditation or yoga. There are many different names which astral projection is known as and there are many different ways to astral project.

Lucid dreaming is a form of astral projection. Lucid dreaming refers to the state of being aware that you are dreaming. Once you are aware that you are dreaming you can do anything you want in the dream. It is very easy to astral project when you are lucid dreaming. As soon as you realize you are dreaming you need to consciously say to yourself’I am dreaming.’

When you do this you will wake up within your dream and you will be free to do what you want in the dream. For beginners this can be too random a practice to successfully astral project.

You have astral projected before, perhaps many times. You may not have been aware that this is what you were doing.

One example is the dreams which you may wake up from remembering each and every detail. These were actually experiences of astral projection.

The key to success in astral projection is to believe you can do it. Any doubts or fears you have will only hold you back and make it harder for you to astral project.

Relaxation techniques like meditation can help you to astral project successfully. Meditation is an especially good method of preparing yourself to astral project. You’ll just need to find a regular routine of meditation which works for you.

Find a quite place to relax, a comfortable chair or lie down, making sure you will not be interrupted. Clear your mind of all thoughts, picture a blank screen.

If negative thoughts continue to work there way back into your head, just continue to push them out. Breathing deeply is the next step, focus on slow, deep breaths. This practice will help you reach ultimate relaxation and help you to transition into astral projection.

Keep focusing on your breathing breathe out all of your stress. Focus only on talking deep breaths in through the nose, out through the mouth.

The breaths you take should come from deep down inside. As your breathing slows down, focus more and more on relaxing your body.

Start with your toes and relax your body bit by bit, working your way up to your head. You can do this by either tensing and then releasing each part of your body as you go along. Alternately, visualize all of the stress and tension leaving from each part of your body as you do your deep breathing.

At this point, you will start to feel heavy almost as if energy is leaving your body. As you get to this point, and you are completely relaxed, you will know that it is time to move on to the next step of astral projection.

The next step, sleep. You have prepared your mind and body for s deep sleep, but remember to stay alert and relaxed. Come up with your own phrase such as ‘I fly, I fly’ there is no wrong motto, so find one that you are comfortable with.

When the human mind is unoccupied, it will tend to wander; this will ruin the concentration you need to astral project. Just keep repeating your phrase to yourself and taking slow, deep breaths.

There are different ways to achieve a state of altered consciousness. You can repeat your chosen phrase or do it another way. Imagine a glowing light, and then imagine you entering it and transforming yourself into this body of light. This is referred to as the body of light technique.

You can count on experiencing three main feelings that will let you know that you have reached astral projection, the first is the sensation that you are moving. The second is when you see lights and colors with closed eyes.

Finally there are voices you hear that either encourage you to keep going or to stop, this lets you know that you have achieved astral projection.
