Everyone has the ability to astral project. There are those who astral project daily and those who rarely astral project, at least intentionally ? the difference between the two is practice. Astral projection is a practice with a long history, just like meditation or yoga. There are many different names which astral projection is known as and there are many different ways to astral project.

Lucid dreaming is one type of astral projecting. Lucid dreaming is of course when we are conscious of our dreaming ? this is actually astral projecting. In order to lucid dream, all you need to do is to tell yourself 'I am dreaming' while in the dream.

However, it can take some time to become skilled in the technique of lucid dreaming, making this perhaps not the best way for beginners to astral projecting to use in their efforts to astral project.

Astral projection is very real and you have already done it before, whether you realize it or not. When you awake from a dream remembering every single detail, this was not a dream; you were astral projecting.

All you need to do to get started is to know that you have the ability to astral project. Each and every one of us can do this; the next step is to begin clearing all of the doubts from your mind which can keep you from being able to astral project.

Using relaxation techniques can help you to prepare your body and mind to astral project. Meditation is the best way to get started. You need to find a meditation technique which works for you in getting you into the relaxed state needed for astral projecting.

Sitting in a quiet, distraction free room in a comfortable chair is the best way to begin meditating with the goal of astral projection. Clear your mind of all the stress and worries which can keep you from relaxing. Take deep, slow breaths and as you exhale, visualize all of this stress leaving your body and mind. Stay focused on your breathing and soon you?ll feel yourself relaxing, reaching the state of relaxation you?ll need to be in to astral project.

Keep focusing on your breathing ? breathe out all of your stress. Focus only on talking deep breaths ? in through the nose, out through the mouth. Your breaths should grow slower and deeper as you move your focus to relaxing your body.

Start with your toes and relax your body bit y bit, working your way up to your head. You can do this by either tensing and then releasing each part of your body as you go along. Alternately, visualize all of the stress and tension leaving from each part of your body as you do your deep breathing.

As the tension and negative energies leave your body, you?ll start to feel heavy and deeply relaxed. Once you have finished relaxing your body, you?re ready to move on to the next step.

Once you are fully relaxed, you may be ready to fall asleep ? don?t doze off, you?re almost there! Repeat a phrase to yourself to stay focused. It doesn?t matter what this mantra is. Even ?around the corner? can work ? just choose a phrase which you can focus on and repeat it.

This works because the mind will wander when given nothing else to do and your focus and relaxation will be ruined. If you lose focus, you?ll have to start all over again. Keep repeating your phrase to stay on track as you prepare to astral project.

There are a few different ways to reach the necessary state of altered consciousness for astral projection. You can repeat your phrase until you get there, or you can use the 'body of light' method ? here, you envision a body made of light which you visualize yourself transforming into.

There are three signs to watch for that will indicate that you are beginning to astral project. One is having a sensation of motion, followed by 'seeing' light and color (even though your eyes will be closed). You will then hear voices telling you to stop or to continue ? this is a sure sign that you are astral projecting.
