Many find astral projecting to be something which is hard to do at first. While each and every one of us has this ability naturally, there are a number of things which can be stumbling blocks along the way as we try to become better at astral projecting. However, it?s like riding a bike ? you haven?t forgotten how, you just need practice if you want to become expert at this technique.

The thing which tends to be most difficult for people trying astral projecting is learning how to become fully relaxed. If you want to astral project, you have to be able to totally relax both body and mind. There are several ways which you can use to reach a state of relaxation; these include muscle relaxation techniques and breathing exercises.

One thing you?ll definitely need for astral projecting is an environment which lets you become relaxed and is comfortable. If you need a little help getting started with astral projecting, read on.

*Do not have any unnecessary trinkets or anything that will cause any distractions on your body.

*You will want to have a nice room that is heavily shaded. You do not want to be able to see any brightness when your eyes are closed. You should only see darkness when you close your eyes.

You want to be pointing with your toes to the south and your head should point towards the north. Your right hand should be pointing to the west and your left should be pointing to the east. If you have problems with direction, then your right hand should be where the sun sets and your left should be where the sun rises.

*Do not put heavy blankets on your self while you are laying down as you do not want to be over heated. You will want to be comfortable, not cold either. Keep your self warm.

*If you live with other people, you should make sure that you are undisturbed when you are practicing astral projection. You should have no interruptions what so ever to make this work.

*Start by using relaxation techniques which get the best results for you. You need to be able to relax completely, so this is very important.

*Use self-suggestions to help you to remember what happens during your astral projecting experience. Tell yourself ?I will remember? at least five times beforehand. Keep a pen and some paper close by to write down what happens while astral projecting as soon as you return.

*Keep on relaxing and take deep cleansing breaths.

*Direct your gaze to a point of darkness directly a head of your eyes.

*Next, move your focus to a point about one foot from your forehead ? after you have managed to focus on this point, shift it to a point which is about six feet away.

*Imagine a line which runs at a ninety degree angle from this point six feet away to your body.

If you follow the pattern that has been laid out for you, you will have no problems astral projecting your self. One other tip you will need is to be able to guide your self where you want to travel. You will have a better experience if you are focused and not just flying blindly.

Many people who astral project do it as a means of connecting with those that have passed away. Some may use this as a tool to get to a place where normal things that could not happen would happen easily in another plane. Many have astral projected unconsciously. This is just to give you direction when you are aware that you are doing it. Many astral project themselves with out knowing it when they are asleep. With these tips, you can do this consciously as well.
