Astral projection is often thought of as 'mystical ', but in fact just about everyone has the ability. In fact, lots of people experience astral projection unaware. So the trick sit is to have control over it and do with it what you want to do.

While this article is an attempt to help people learn about astral projection using different techniques, you should keep in mind that astral projection is a personal experience so ideally, you need to apply a technique that works best for yourself. Furthermore, we?re taking the liberty of assuming that you are already familiar with the meaning of astral projection.

The primary method is a straightforward process consisting of five basic steps which can be done while lying down on your bed.

*Your first priority is to achieve a state of deep relaxation by relaxing your body thoroughly. In order to achieve this state of relaxation you need to be lying down. Your goal here is, starting at the lowest point which is your toes, to tense each muscle and then relax it again. Once you?ve worked through your toes, you do the same with you feet, and so you move upwards until you eventually finish with the muscles in your face. Don?t be alarmed if you sense a feeling that your body is heavy as this is perfectly normal.

*Now that you?ve managed to achieve a state of deep relaxation, you need to bring your breathing under control and the best way to do this, is by following a technique often taught in meditation. Take deep breath and allow yourself to actually feel the movement of air as it makes its way into your lungs. Now exhale slowly, once again paying attention to the feeling of the air leaving your body. Many people find this difficult as they become so relaxed, they simply fall asleep which of course, is something you need to avoid. Mentally trying to focus on the centre of your forehead will however help you remain conscious.

*This is the stage where you?ll need to be aware of two things in particular, the first being the way your physical body feels and the second being your astral body. Your physical body should feel heavy and difficult to move, almost as one would imagine a large boulder to be. As one pays attention their astral body, try focusing on how you would imagine the weightlessness of bubbles to be, gently drifting on the air currents. Focus on the absolute weightlessness of your astral body, feeling it starting to float away. Keep reminding yourself that your physical body is heavy, while your astral body is completely weightless.

*In this fourth stage that most people will be capable of seeing the room they?re in even though their physical eyes are shut and most also testify that there appears to be a purple glow filling the room. For a beginner, experiencing this for the first time can be nothing short of exhilarating and is in itself, good enough motivation to continue.

*Envision yourself pulling the drawing imagine that you are pulling the ceiling light into you. As you're doing this you might well get the sensation that you're floating. If you feel this, you can likely look 'down ' at your own physical body lying still on the bed.

As I mentioned earlier in this article, different techniques work for different people. If this first method has failed you, don?t give up. Simply move on and try the next method mentioned below. Likewise, if this method has worked then you?re on your way to start experimenting astral travelling.

The second technique is known as the gazing method and as with the technique it?s also best suited for when you go to your bed. All you need with this one is an object to focus on such as a picture hanging up, a mark on the wall or even the moon if it?s visible through the window.

Of course, you must make sure you can gaze at the object as you lie in bed. Now, essentially you're going to stare at this object. If you feel your attention wandering, bring it back to the object. You should soon begin to feel your eyelids getting heavy. Just keep staring; eventually your eyes will close but you should still be able to see the object as if your eyes are still open. Don't turn your head; keep 'staring '. You'll come to a point where you want to sit up or stand up, and if you feel yourself do this don't be alarmed if you can see your own physical body lying asleep on the bed.

These methods, like anything else, will probably require you to practice them over and over for a little while until you get results. So don't give up and don't let yourself become frustrated or discouraged as these feelings will just inhibit you from doing astral projection.

The truth is that your biggest obstacle to success with astral projection is your very own subconscious, which at first will likely try to guard you against the 'danger ' of your astral body splitting off from your physical body. You can overcome this block with daily affirmations. Just keep them positive and present tense, and acknowledge that you possess the natural ability of astral projection.

There do exist some shortcuts to becoming able to consciously astral project for those who might not have the patience to try over and over until they get it right. These should enable you to astral project on just your first attempt or second.

Those beginners who experience a block in their path to astral projecting, hypnosis can in most cases prove to be the only tool you?ll ever need. It gets you into an ideal state of relaxation in an incredibly short space of time and also, a quality session will prepare you mentally for your first astral projection experience.

Recent developments in sound technology known as ?binaural beats? are also proving to be very effective in getting people into a state of relaxation suitable for successful astral projection.

Once again, astral projection is actually not difficult–it's a natural capability born into you. You just need to use the right tools to get it done, and then you can astraly travel the cosmos!
